In an easy 163 pages, Brian Todd Carey fully illustrates and retells the events that took place between the Romans and the Carthaginians in the Punic wars. With maps and picture by picture illustrations of how the battles were laid out and concluded, Carey makes this novel easy to understand and less boring. His story tells the tale between the Romans and the Carthaginians, two power hungry empires of their time fighting over the same interest, control over the Mediterrean Sea. The Carthaginians were the forceful empire of their time, with the favorable navy and infamous commanders, while the Romans were the clear underdog, lacking a navy but posessed advantages like natural resources. When these two empires clashed in the middle of the third century BC, only one would be left reigning supreme... read to find out!! Throughout the novel, Carey does a good job in giving background information so the reader understands what is going on and why it is going on. Also, the novel recreates the battles scenes well, giving precise numbers and picture by picture narrations of the battle. If you do not like war books or anything of that sort, this may not be the book for you, but its a relatively short read and isnt as boring as I thought it would be. I personally enjoyed it and suggest it to all.
