The Qin were not as bad as the Han claimed. Although they inflicted harsh punishments, took land from the Xiongnu, and burned books, they were overall good leaders.

Though the penalties imposed upon lawbreakers were a bit extreme, and certain rights were discarded, the Qin were not as bad as the Han would say.

The Qin dynasty came off to be far more violent then they actually were. The only terribly unjust act was the burning of the books.

Qin=bad; censorship, group responsible for individual mentality, too harsh punishments, stability does not excuse authoritarian ways.

Shi Huangdi was an effective leader, as he was able to strengthen China as a nation. The Han cannot cover up the positive impact of his economic and political reforms. The ends do not justify Shi Huangdi's means, but he did help China.

The Qin Dynasty lasted only fifteen years. During that time the "Warring Tribes" were united, the Great Wall was created, education was a main priority and standardized currency and language was created. The Qin Dynasty was more benefitial to society than harmful.

Shi Huangdi was an overbearing ruler. Anyone who burns books to retain political control is not fit to rule. He may have united the empire, but ends do not justify means.
