However, we need to be careful about how we exit the region. If we left en masse there would be chaos and anarchy, since the Iraqi government is not stable enough to function without our help yet. So we need to begin to pull out slowly, making sure that the region is completely stable before we leave the country completely. That is something we owe to the Iraqis. We destroyed a stable (if tyrannical and dangerous) government, and implemented a new one, which will take time to stabilize. We as Americans need be concerned not only with our own GNH, but also the GNH of other people in the world. The Iraqi's GNH would not be very good if they're country fell apart when Americans left. We should focus on the GNH of the world, not the GNH of America exclusively. We have created a very difficult and delicate situation in Iraq, and we must be very careful about how we go about fixing it.

We also shouldn't let our elections or economic problems divert us from the need to exit Iraq. I feel that with all the problems going on that the war in Iraq has been pushed aside for a little bit. There is considerable danger that, with Americans' attention being drawn to the swine flue problems, Obama's numerous new laws, and the miserable state of the economy that we will lose sight of the unfinished war in Iraq as the priority question still confronting the country.

The policy of slowly exiting Iraq is taking into consideration the GNH of Iraq. Attempting to raise other nations' GNH often leads to pushing aside America's GNH, as is the case in the war. There is only one solution to truly and permanently raise the American GNH about the war permanently. Americans are happy when they are safe and when they are rich. To provide these two basic rights, the government should simply nuke Iraq and the majority of other Middle Eastern countries. There would be no fears of Muslim extremist terrorist attacks or counterattacks, and the troops would certainly be out of the war. America could take control of the newly available oil industry and become much richer. With a permanently safe, wealthy nation, America's GNH would be through the roof.
