The Soul of the Rhino by Mishra Ottaway was a momentous tale about one mans spiritual journey to save the indian rhino from extinction. In spite of all his efforts to keep the rhino population in Chitwan Nepal thriving, Mishra was still fearful that the indian rhino would go extinct. Mishra then had the idea of starting the first national park in nepal to ensure the rhinos safety. The Chitwan National Park was a great success. Not only did it help the rhinos but it completely transformed the economic and social structure of surrounding towns.
In the end, Mishra saves the indian rhinos in Chitwan from extinction and in doing so, he greatly helps Nepal. If you like true inspirational stories, then The Soul of the Rhino is the book for you. This book will make you realize the importance of animals like the rhino in our society and what we can do to help them.

Ottaway sounds like a passionate man, which always provides for a good read. It's interesting to think that rhinos would have such a large effect on communities.

The fact that Ottaway worked so hard in order to save the Indian Rhino and that he succeeded is heartwarming. One thing I'm curious about though is how saving the Rhino helps Nepal?

this looks like a truely heart warming tale of one mans journey to fight for what he believes in and it continues to warm the heart to see that he is succefull in the end. ~ Bruce Springsteen
ReplyDeleteThis book was like the Last Flight of the Scarlet Macaw, which is about one woman's fight to save a tropical bird. I like both books as they provide insight into the country in a way that is specific and interesting.
ReplyDeleteNice job.
